English Language learner students with/without special needs. They are from diverse family backgrounds, ages 3-5 years old. Class ratio: 8:7 with teacher assistant
Curriculum
Opening the World to Learning (OWL) is aligned to Rhode Island EarlyLearning Development and Standards. This classroom utilizes informal and formal formative assessments, progress monitoring every 2 units, and summative assessments at the end of the school year. Informal observations are entered into Teaching Strategies GOLD.

Teaching Strategies
We utilize modeling, total physical response, picture cues, chaining, fading, scaffolding, prompting, and direct instruction to support our students. Students participate in individual and small group work as well as whole group activities. We engage parents in the students' learning through a home-school connection by assigning individualized and appropriate homework and suggesting at home activities.
Volunteer
Donate your time to Pleasant View Elementary School in order enrich the school community. The school is always looking for help, whether in the cafeteria, library, or classroom. You will gain a rewarding experience working with diverse young children with/without special needs.
