Here are answers to common questions about our class to support you:
1. What can I do to get my child ready to school everyday?
-1 water cup (if your child prefers to have his/her own cup)
-1 two-pocket plastic folder (my homework folder)
- Extra clothing (underwear, pants, shirts, dresses, etc. if your child needs it.)
Diapers (if your child needs it)
- Snack (Note: The school only provides snacks for the morning class not for the afternoon class. If your child attends an afternoon class, please make sure send snack with your child.)
Please put your child's name on their belongings with a permanent marker.
2. How many bus passes will I receive from the transportation office?
You will receive 1 or 2 bus pass schedules. If you receive one bus pass, make sure Friday pick up/drop off times are indicated on the bus pass. Please note that the Friday bus schedule is different than Monday-Thursday. Friday is an early release day. Here is Friday's Early Release schedule:
AM Pre-K - Friday - 8:00 A.M. - 10:05 A.M.
Your child starts school at 8:00 A.M. S/he will leave school at 10:05 am instead of 10:55 A.M. Therefore, the time you pick up your child on Friday is different time from Monday to Thursday.
PM Pre-K - Friday - 11:05 A.M. - 11:11 P.M.
Your child starts school at 11:05 am instead of 11:35 A.M. S/he will leave school at 1:11P.M., not 2:31 P.M. Therefore the time to drop off and pick up your child on Friday is different time from Monday to Thursday.
If you receive 2 bus passes, one contains Monday-Thursday's pick up/drop off times and the second one contains Friday's pick up/drop off time.
3. What happens when the school bus does not pick up or drop off my child on time?
You need to contact the transportation office at 401-456-9268 and the Bus Yard at 401-943-7536. It is important you provide them your child's bus number and the school name. Note: You and your child must arrive at your assigned Bus Stop Five minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival time. Please always leave your child's bus pass in their backpack for safety reasons.
4. If my child does not take a school bus, where do I drop off and pick up my child?
You can drop off your child 15 minutes before school starts at a designated classroom table in the cafeteria. If you drop off your child after the school bell, you must stoy by at the main office before you bring your child to the classroom. Please follow the Providence School District Visitor rules.
For AM Pre-K - You pick up your child at the school's main entrance.
For PM Pre-K - You drop off your child at the school's main entrance. You are not picking up child at the school main entrance. You have to pick up your child at the Red Door that has numeral 12 on the top, next to the parking lot.
It is very important to pick up your child on time. If you are going to be late, please notify us.
